Practicum Inquiries

About Us
Bloom Narratives is a small private practice offering a range of therapeutic services, including counseling, EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and group therapy. We work with individuals (ages 13+), couples, and families, providing tailored support and healing.

Important Note
We cannot accommodate practicums requiring a specific number of direct client hours. Due to the nature of private practice, client preferences, and fluctuations in demand, we cannot guarantee how many clients a student may see during their practicum.

Prerequisites
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Experience: Experience in a Social Work Related Role/Position

   • For Master’s Degree Students: Previous experience in a counseling-related role.

   • For Diploma of Social Work/BSW Students: Previous experience working in a supportive capacity with different populations.

2. Insurance: Proof of personal liability coverage of at least $2,000,000 (This is often provided by your educational institution; however, confirmation and coverage must be in place before acceptance).

3. Background Check: A clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check.

4. Independence: Ability to work autonomously and stay self-driven in managing responsibilities.

5. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

6. Vulnerable Populations: Experience working with vulnerable individuals or groups.

7. Anti-Oppressive Practice: Commitment to and demonstration of skills within anti-oppressive frameworks.

8. Professional Standards: Familiarity with the following regulations and guidelines:

   • ACSW Standards of Practice

   • CASW Code of Ethics

   • Health Information Act (HIA)

   • Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)

9. Professionalism: A proactive, ethical approach with strong organizational and self-management skills.
