“Look closer and you’ll see something extraordinary, mystifying, something real and true. We have never been what we seemed.”

—Zelda Fitzgerald

When you are struggling to find the time for yourself, it can be really hard. You might feel like giving up or that no one cares about your needs because they're too busy themselves - but I know what it’s like! I see how it is exhausting - especially if one never takes any breaks or enjoys themselves at their job because they're too focused solely upon performing well enough in order not disappoint those who depend upon them most deeply.

I want to help you get results when working through these types of struggles by focusing on three areas: self-worthiness; accountability/self-monitoring skills & creating healthy boundaries with yourself and the world around you.

I see you out there struggling with this every day--struggling so gallantly yet unsuccessfully against an unbeatable opponent: Time! Your energy wanes daily; your strength depletes weekly, and you keep pushing through the never-ending list of roles and responsibilities you have on your shoulders.

I see you.

I’m Sharla and I’m a Registered Social Worker that has dedicated my career to counselling, nurturing, and caring for you so you can live the life you dreamed of... without the stress and overwhelming exhaustion that has been accompanying it through the hustle.

I am experienced in and am passionate about supporting children, youth, and adults with anxiety, stress, trauma, burnout, and ADHD.

I have been in the mental health and addiction field supporting women since 2008 and am passionate about helping you see results that last long term. With a warm and flexible style, I will meet you where you are at to support your goals through a respectful and non-judgmental approach.

Let's connect and see if I am a good fit for your needs.

My Approach to Counselling

We are all individuals, and it is my goal to help you tell your story. I will ask questions that lead you through the events in your life so we can reflect on them together while crafting a plan for how these experiences may shape or change future behaviors.

I want you to feel like you’ve been given an opportunity: an opportunity to empathetically invest in yourself and find healing for the short AND long-term. I’ve been working with women for many years now and I know how hard it is to put yourself as a priority. Let’s make it fun and meaningful then, shall we?

I believe that everyone wants to live their best life. But too often, people are not aware of how the systems we interact with can influence, perpetuate, or sustain problems people experience in their life (like dieting, perfectionism, shame… the list goes on). So let’s talk about it and navigate through it.

I use Narrative Therapy most in my practice, but also adapt my approach to fit the needs presented. I also use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Sandtray Therapy, Play & art-based therapy, and Mindfulness-based approaches in my counselling practice.
