Working from a trauma-informed lens, one of Donna’s passions is to help clients understand the neurobiology of how we respond to negative and painful experiences and how neuroscience explains why these past experiences still intrude on and impact us long after the event is past.
She believes that doing this exploratory work can help to uncover the root causes of the symptoms that are affecting your life.
Donna might be a good fit for you if:
You want to understand how shame drives disconnection, moves us away from vulnerability and erases who we really are.
You want to understand the neurobiology of trauma and how it affects your life, thoughts, and decisions.
Exploring and uncovering root causes of the symptoms that are affecting your life
You want to learn about your individual needs can help us gain a better understanding of your personality structure and how you use coping mechanisms when you experience stressors
You want to gain insight and help you in the here and now, and future.
A little note from Donna:
“Hi, I’m Donna and am a registered social worker (MSW) specializing in working with adults to help them recover from past events, find relief from negative thoughts, and rediscover their courage.
I believe that the more we know about the patterns of behaviour we learn from family of origin helps us to understand how we communicate and build relationships across the lifespan.
I am certified in the Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ curriculums based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown on shame and vulnerability. Brené has encouraged all of us to have a global conversation on how shame drives disconnection, moves us away from vulnerability and erases who we really are. Vulnerability is the birthplace of courage and possibility in our lives and sometimes this requires us to “lean in” to find our authenticity.”
“
Self-regulation depends on having a friendly relationship with your body. Without it you have to rely on external sources.
