6 Ways to Check In With Yourself
I was having a terrible day. Every little thing that went wrong sent me into a downward spiral of doubt and self-criticism. "Why can't I do anything right?" I asked myself. "I'm so stupid."
It was really tough to pull myself out of that funk, but I knew I had to. Otherwise, the negative thoughts would just keep swirling around in my head. So I took a deep breath and tried to focus on the good things about myself.
Even though it was hard, it helped to remind myself that I am capable and lovable. And that's why it's important to check in with yourself every once in a while β because sometimes you need a reminder of your own worthiness.
If you're struggling with self-doubt, know that you're not alone. It's a common feeling that many people experience at some point in their lives. But don't let those negative thoughts take over. There are 6 ways to overcome them.
The most important thing is to be gentle with yourself
Accept that you're going through a tough time, and give yourself the space and time you need to heal. Once you do that, you can start working on building up your self-confidence.
Check-in With Yourself
Regularly set some time to notice what it is that you are feeling, where you feel it, label the thought by putting words to it, and then recognize what emotions you are also feeling.
Take stock of your goals
What are you hoping to achieve with your business? What are your long-term goals? Have you been making progress towards your goals? If not, why not? Taking the time to assess your goals can help you refocus and find motivation. This can also help you identify any roadblocks that might be holding you back.
Evaluate your current situation
Are you happy with the progress you've made? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Evaluating your current situation can help you identify areas where you need to focus more attention.
Set some short-term goals
What can you do this week to move closer to your long-term goals? When you have short-term goals, you can easily track your progress and make sure you're on track.
Listen to your gut
If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Trusting your intuition can help you stay on track and make sure you're moving in the right direction.
Finally, ask yourself, βWhatβs the story Iβm telling myself and am I okay with it?β
Finally, ask yourself, βWhatβs the story Iβm telling myself, and am I okay with it?β. Itβs not easy to change the story, but it is possible. The first step is awareness. Become aware of the story you tell yourself and see if it serves you. If it doesnβt, then start to change the story.
Everyone has a story. Your story is what makes you unique and defines who you are. It influences everything in your life, including your current reality. But what happens when your story isnβt serving you? When itβs holding you back instead of propelling you forward? Thatβs when itβs time to change the story.
Your story starts with your beliefs. Your beliefs are the foundation of your story and they dictate how you see the world. If your beliefs are negative, then your story is going to be negative. And if your beliefs are positive, then your story will be positive. Itβs that simple!
Your story is also influenced by your past experiences. The things that have happened to you in the past have shaped who you are today. Theyβve formed your beliefs and created the lens through which you see the world. So even if you donβt like your past experiences, they still influence your current reality.
But the good news is that you can change your story! You can rewrite it to reflect the life you want to live. Ask yourself the following (or print out the worksheet):
Whatβs the opposite of self-doubt?
How would you know you didnβt doubt yourself?
Do you doubt yourself in all areas or just some?
How would you show up in the world if you believe in yourself?
What would your thoughts sound like?
If you're feeling burnt out or struggling to stay motivated, try using these 6 ways to check in with yourself! They can help you regain focus and get back on track.
In the end, it's important to remember that self-doubt is just a feeling. It doesn't have to define you. You are so much more than your doubts and insecurities. You are capable, talented, and loved. So don't give up on yourself β you're worth fighting for.
